July House Progress Part 2 (July 14 - July 31)

Lots more constructions pictures here, including nearly-complete framing on the first floor and partially done framing on the second floor.

Everything we left in the house (which was a lot) was either packed into boxes and stacked in the basement or covered in heavy tarps.  Thanks to Grandpa Bart and Auntie Colleen for helping out with some of the packing while we were in the hospital

Contractor Larry turned Simon's room into his temporary office while the framing and subflooring went in.  You can see the house plans laid out on a desk made out of the second floor landing rail and a piece of the old kitchen cabinets

Down in the basement, the beginnings of the sump pump are in place in the new mechanical room which also features the first new permanent drywall we've seen during construction so far

The old breaker box is hanging in the middle of what will eventually become the laundry room in the basement

Someday this will be a basement bathroom, but not as part of this construction project

The new wall and doorway between the family room and the dining room.  The doorway is much wider than before which will help the dining room feel larger than it is

The steel beams and solid construction make the house feel so much more secure than it used to.  We're not worried anymore about Simon knocking the house down by accident someday

July 28 suddenly most of the framing was done on the second floor.  This is looking from the master bedroom towards the wall of the master closet, and beyond that to the guest bath

Looking into the guest bath from the doorway on July 31.  That big rectangular piece of plywood is covering up the hole where the window will go

Since the loss of all of our skylights upstairs was making the hallway feel a little dark and closed in, Contractor Larry added a new little skylight above the stairwell

It's getting easier to tell which rooms are which now that the framing is further along.  This is looking down the hall at the doorway to the master suite
