Scooters.

Thinking about the best approach...
This worked for Simon, but Lillian knocked her cone on the ground trying to emulate it.
She was just coaxed into taking a bite of the cone. She didn't realize it was edible.
She liked it.
I gave Simon a spoonful from my ice cream cone, he didn't object.

Before Bedtime Talk with Lillian - Reading Prep

Lillian has been skinning her knees like crazy. Almost every day she tells me, at length, about her skinned knee or hurt leg. Even when it isn't freshly bloodied she likes to remember and retell the story of tripping up the steps or falling while chasing Simon. They are such great stories (especially considering she is only 22 months) and I have been meaning to get them on video so you can all ooh and ahh about how advanced she is. So, the day had come, I pulled out my trusty phone and she clammed up! She talks a bit in this video, but mostly she's focused on moving every book from around the room into my lap so we can snuggle in and read some books instead of going to bed. That, at least, she gets from me!

I feel like she speaks clearly in this, but I was doing some repeating of her words to make sure they're understandable for everyone.

Building with Blocks

We spent some time this morning building the tallest building we could. Then we knocked it over.
A place to read was next.

Lillian Says (18 months to 21 months)

Alan told Lilly she had to eat her eggs before she could have a muffin... They needed to be all gone, no more on her plate. So she dumped all her eggs out onto her tray, held up her empty plate and yelled "All Done!" *sigh*

Lillian Loves spending time in her crib. She never really cries to get out. She will will wake up and sing songs to her animals, play peek-a-boo and generally have a great time with them.

If you yawn she said "you tired?"

When you eat a meal together, after you take a bite she'll look over at you and ask "it good?"

If you sneeze she says "bless you, mama "(sub right name).

She sings to her self... A b c d Cookie Monster!

Counting (when she is a year and three quarters): 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, Cheerios, 1

Lilly just held out her (dirty) finger and said proudly, "daddy, I pick the nose!!"

Lillian says PRETTY GOOD in a really funny deep voice. Here she is saying Pretty Good.

Lillian at around 21 months started putting "the" in front of nouns when she talks... "I hurt THE knee." "I kiss THE mama."  "I hi the Jessie." I love it and it makes me smile every time.  Here she is talking about her knee.

Sumer 2015 Boston Trip And Seeing Gigi

It was a whirlwind trip but a really wonderful one. We managed to fit a lot into a few days, including tons of hanging out with Gaga and Papa, some kayak rides, and visiting with Gigi.

Practicing (in a canoe) for their kayak ride.
Woken up from her nap and not happy about it.
Snacks make everything better
After a snack we can snuggle with Gigi.

Cuddling with Auntie Sharon.

Borrowed some fun chairs from the Leominster crowd!
Vested up and ready to paddle!

Simon the arm rest.
Laughing with Auntie Lisa

Peaceful reading time for Emily.
She is totally picking her nose. *Sigh*
Train ride to the airport - then off to Boston!
Waiting at the airport for the flight to Boston.

Singing to herself in the back seat on our way to the airport (leaving Boston) at 3AM, I tried to catch it... A, B, C, Cookie Monster!

Cookies for Everyone!

I got home last night and was seriously craving some chocolate chip cookies. I was so happy when Jessie reported that the kids had had a great day because that meant we all could make cookies! Jessie and Lauren stayed a bit while I got things started. They got to enjoy the start, while each kid had their own bowl and spoon. Saw Simon measuring out 2.25 cups of flour into his bowl and Lillian getting a tablespoon of baking soda in hers (she tasted the backing soda). They left just as things were getting good. I did the sugar to keep things moving while Simon removed the paper from the butter. Eggs were next and Lillian was up.

Lillian likes to gently tap tap tap to crack the egg, and then make a FIST to crush it in her hands. I just have not been able to break her of the habit. So she can only crack eggs when we have extras. The first was crushed and then I did two into the bowl. We had cookies pretty quickly and both kids got a spoonful of dough to eat while a tray cooked. Then a cookie each before bed!

Cookies!!

Crashing the Little Beans Day Camp

Jessie's partner Lauren works at Little Beans and runs the summer day camp. Today Jessie brought the kids to their Carnival Day. Jessie painted clown faces on kids and Simon and Lillian made bunches of friends. Happy days!

Picnic at the Park

I have been wanting to get out to the beach with the kids, but the weather just keeps thwarting my plans. By the time the weather was finally cooperating this weekend it was a bit late in the afternoon so the beach was out, but I already had the picnic packed so off to the park by the lake we all went. It was too windy to stay by the lake, so we went to the nearby playground. It was our first time there and it was AMAZING. Apparently it's just been redone and there is a very wide age range of activities. The kids had a blast and so did the parents.

Eating a wafer cookie - she kept crushing it in her hands and then shoving it at her face.
This look says: Mom is making us sit here for a picture.
Identical 'I'm tired of this' looks from my kids.
