Big week :)

We have had a great week and it's only Wednesday!!! Enjoy :)

Miss Lilly started holding her own bottle late last week! She loves having something to do with those crazy hands of hers....besides pulling my hair :) haha

It was sunny and decent out on Monday we went for a walk and ended up at burrito park.

And Lilly tried swinging!!!
And seemed very content but not as excited as Simon was the first go round. She will grow to love it I'm sure!
Lilly mouse
Simon learned that big brothers can help even at the park!
He loved it and she loves looking at him. Win/win

Simon being a lion about to jump into the ocean
Look who can sort of sit up on her own!!!!
Catching bubbles
Basque kids at parachute time!! Love that they can finally do things together :)

Saturday outing

Saturday we took the train up to Lincoln Square to get Simon a new book for the flight to Arizona. We toured a book store and stopped into a toy store and then had lunch at potbelly's where there was a man playing a guitar. Simon clapped at the end of each song and told him he did a good job. Great day out and looking forward to more when we don't have to bundle up quite as much!

Find a Way to Play, Together.

Sometime around the beginning of the year Alan found what is essentially a continuation of Mr Roger's Neighborhood in animated form: Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood. It is made by the Mr Rodgers Foundation and the creators of Blues Clues and the characters are all the children of the characters from the Land of Make-believe from Mr Rodger's Neighborhood. Each show has a a little theme song that is only phrase or two and is usually surprisingly catchy.

Daniel Tiger is Simon's new favorite TV show.

This morning Simon woke up while I was getting ready and Alan was in the shower. I popped in and told Simon he could choose between going downstairs to eat by himself right then or sitting upstairs and reading quietly with me while I finished getting ready. He wanted to stay upstairs but was noisy and woke Lillian. Simon then got mad that I went to hold Lillian and was going to change/feed her before feeding him. So we talked it through, the three of us, and decided that Simon would wait while Lillian got changed and then Lillian would wait while we made Simon's breakfast and then both kids would eat at the same time. We implemented the plan without a hitch.

When we were downstairs, Simon eating cereal at the table and Lillian nursing on the couch, Simon looked at me and sang the phrase: 'Find a way to Play Together' from Daniel Tiger. I was totally surprised and so happy. It's been days since we saw that episode but that's exactly what we did - we found a way to make everyone happy. Love that kid.

Silly Simon

Spa day for the Basque children

Yesterday I gave full manicures and pedicures to both youngins then they Simon asked for a bath. So both kids took a bubble bath followed by lotion massages and pjs that ended in lots of hugs. A good rainy day spa treatment if I do say so myself!! :)

Lillian ready for the baseball season (and rolling)

The dress is still a little big for her, but she was smiling up a storm this morning while wearing it. She is celebrating the season tickets getting delivered. And a bonus video of Lillian rolling again. Somehow Alan and I still haven't seen it happen, but she seems to do it pretty easily!

Just another sick Sunday

We have just been passing around the sickness lately. Poor Lillian had a cough last week and it has turned wet this weekend (rattly and snotty). We took her to the doctor last week and the doctor predicted the transition to a wet cough.  I was sick last week and Alan wasn't feeling good this past weekend.

When Alan told Simon he wasn't feeling well, Doctor Simon came calling. Dr Simon listened to Alan's lungs, looked in his ears, looked in his mouth and of course used the mirror to look up Alan's nose to check for buggers. HA! Alan was shaking from holding in his laughter.

Despite being sick, Lillian has been in a great mood. She's getting very good at putting things into her mouth and the crunchy paper book is one of her favorites! She is very serious about chewing on things and will get quite angry if you hold it out of her reach. She still hasn't rolled since that day we got the recording!

Even More Simon Quotes

I showed Simon how to dip his bread in stew and then he tried to dip his bread in his tea. We told him that he shouldn't dip his food into his tea. When he asked why he wasn't supposed to do that.... we couldn't come up with a good reason. Alan (unhelpfully) kept coming up with exceptions to the no dipping in your drink rule (oreos, doughnuts, etc) Any suggestions?

In the mornings Simon has been telling me I look pretty (sometimes even 'very pretty') as I am leaving the house. It makes me feel nice every time. Sunday morning, unshowered and still in my pjs, he told me I looked pretty. It still made me feel nice.

Simon [in a grunty, straining voice]: I'm pooping - go far away!

Simon: Mama, Are you happy?
Me: I'd be happier if you kept your slobber in your mouth.
[wiped his very slobbery face on his and my arm]
Simon: Mama, are you really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really happy?
Me: Yes, I am.

Simon [Looking down into the water while sitting on the potty]: Daddy, there's a mirror in the toilet!!

Simon: Let's talk about Mama
Daddy: Sure!  Do you have the best Mama?
Simon: Yes!!
Daddy: What's your favorite thing about Mama?
Simon [after thinking about that for a minute]: Chicken nuggets

Simon: Bob the Builder has lots of trucks... and he has some ladies

Auntie Amy Visit

Auntie Amy came to visit and again I neglected my picture taking duties. These are the only pictures I got with Lillian and Amy her whole visit and the only ones with Simon and Amy were the ones at the sushi restaurant. We even talked about a Amy and Kids picture, but just forgot to follow through. The visit was great fun and you'll just have to trust me even though I have scant photographic evidence.

This look from Lillian translated: 'Don't you dare interrupt'
Happy Auntie, Happy baby.
Alan found a game that you can use to make other games. He and Simon are creating a game world now.
Simon is either suggesting the fish or squirrel or man get bigger.
Lillian just hanging out.

Friday night - Tacos and baths

It was almost 50 degrees today so we had planned a nice walk and a family dinner out. Sadly I had to work late so we didn't have time for a long family walk and Lillian was feeling yucky to boot. So Simon and Alan went to Burrito House and a walk around the block for a special Guys Night and Lillian and I stayed home. She puked on me pretty quickly after the boys left so we did a nice steamy shower to help clear her up and to clean us both up. Yes, she's hanging out in a basket of sheets, I needed someplace warm to put her down and it was close! She thought it was hil-larious!

Eating dinner, watching the trains and pedestrians.
Feeling so much better after a long steamy shower.
