Chipotle kid

Simon had his swimming lesson today at goldfish and when we got in the car to drive home he asked so sweetly if we could have chipotle for lunch. So obviously I said yes!! He had a great morning. And Lilly slept in her carrier. Ha :)

Yesterday was a big day!

Yesterday was a super busy day! Simon went on a cow ride, was an engineer, made orangesicles with Stacey (and added blueberries!), took a 2.25 hour nap and then went out on a special Mama/Daddy/Simon date while Lillian stayed home with Auntie Colleen. I'm tired just thinking about it!

Lillian is 3 months old!

Little Lillian is 3 months old! She loves snuggles and loves watching her brother play. She is awake a lot as she unfortunately does not have a good sleep schedule yet, but we're trying to establish a rhythm that has her sleeping most of the night since we know that she can sleep 6+ hours without eating. She smiles an open mouthed baby smile pretty regularly and is about to laugh any day. She coo's and makes a ton of talking noises and will even match pitch with you if you sing a solid note. She loves to stand (with balancing help), enjoys sitting on the bumbo and hasn't shown any interest in trying to roll. She is not a fan of tummy time, but loves sitting up and will play on her back for long stretches happily (15+ minutes).  She will wring her hands, sometimes with each hand holding the other, but doesn't look at them yet.  She is still eating 100% breast milk and takes bottles like a champ during the day while I'm at work.

Simon helped our neighbor Mary shovel her sidewalk this morning.

Look who else can sit in the Bumbo!

He fits into it almost easier than she does.

Bumbo Lilly

Lilly's first time in the bumbo! She is loving it and doing a lot of exploring of her hands!

Lillian Singing with Auntie Colleen

Colleen and I were going out for dinner and she was hanging out with Lillian before we left. Who knew that Lillian could sing! You have to turn up the volume to hear Lillian (sorry about Simon yelling). Lillian even matched the note!

This week with the Basque children...

Bat-Simon with an intense smile!
....a little less intense :)
Lilly was the happiest of girls on Monday!!
All smiles and wearing a bib to catch some happy girl puke....ya never know!
The cuteness kills me!
What a good big brother
On the floor for Simon means naptime and for Lilly it means playtime!!

So sweet :)

Simon's Restaurant

Simon and I played restaurant for a very long time today. It takes a lot of time to create a menu, train the wait staff, prepare the food and then eat it.

As you can see by the menu, Simon has high hopes of charging $150 for pizza and $49 for cheese.

Also, everything is served very hot but a waiter will blow on it until it's to your liking . So no worries there. If anyone has any recommendations for naming the restaurant other than "Simon's Restaurant" - we're definitely interested in hearing everyone out!

Gymboree Craziness :)

This is from today at Gymboree! Simon is so independent and loves his class!

This video is from last week. Simon has always needed to hold someone's hand when jumping off things and we have been practicing the confidence to jump alone. This is what it looks like when he gained that confidence! So fun :)

S I M O N

This was this morning…I randomly asked Simon if he knew how to spell Simon…..and HE DID! We have been practicing his name a lot but WOW :) I was so proud I cried a tiny bit!

This video is from this time last year….(also one of my favorite videos EVER!)

Wrapping Big Simon

Whenever we wrap Lillian, Simon asks if he could get into the wrap too. I actually had been meaning to try a new wrap where he's on my back. Since he wanted to do the front one so we tried it - as expected, he's too long! I didn't wrap the most elegant wrap since it was my first time, but we loved the idea of the back wrap. He liked being on my back and it was really easy to carry his weight. The only issue is once he's in the wrap it's not super easy to get him out so I don't think we'll be able to do it very often.

Good for some snuggles!

Game night with Joseph and Vickie

Joseph and Vickie came over for a Game Night and to see the kids last night. The boys played blocks and with the doctor kit while the girls hung out on the couch and coo'd. Simon went to bed at 6 but Lillian decided she didn't want to sleep, she wanted to play! We let her join the game and she kept score. I won, as you'd expect since I'm the sole source of food for our little girl.

Simon's First Independent Swimming Lesson

For Christmas Grandpa Bart and Grandma Kiki got Simon swimming lessons! Goldfish Swim School specializes in kids swimming lessons that actually teach the kids to swim (swimming lessons at most other places are about games to get the kids comfortable in the water). At 2.5 Simon can join a class that is with a parent or without a parent. We signed him up for no parent classes and Friday he had his first class!

When we got there, Simon got changed into his suit and we waited in the room until they called for his class time. I walked Simon into the pool area and he sat on the yellow foam turtle, soon joined by the other two people in his class (I didn't meet them but he told me later they were Jack and Mia). I headed out to sit behind the glass wall in the waiting room and he started class!

I paused as I walked out to take some pictures...
so this was taken in the first 2 minutes of class.
She is helping him extend his legs to kick.

Details about the class and more pictures after the jump...

Family dinner at DMK

We went out to dinner and it was a precursor of days to come... Simon sat on a booster chair and Lillian sat in a high chair. Lillian's not really ready to sit in a high chair yet, she doesn't sit up yet, but the high chairs were tiny at DMK and her winter outfit makes her body super stiff  so with an extra blanket to brace her she sat in the chair just perfectly.

It was cold and snowy, but we took the train there and back. Simon loved the train ride (like always) and stood holding the bar like a commuter on the way home.

Lillian 2 month well visit

On Thursday January 9th Lillian finally had her 2 month well visit, because of Christmas and being sick she didn't get in until she was already 11 weeks old!  She is doing wonderfully. The doctor was really impressed at her neck strength (she holds her head up really well) and said she was doing great on all measures.

She got her 2 month vaccinations during this visit as well and she was not happy about it. Because she had been to the doctor so many times the week before she remembered not liking lying on the table so as soon as I set her down she started to cry. And not a little whimper cry, a full-throated, I-don't-like-this-one-bit cry. She brought that up to a world-is-ending cry when the shots came. Happily, she soothed pretty quickly once she was in my arms. I unfortunately couldn't easily nurse to comfort her since she was going in about 15 layers and getting wrapped for a walk home. She spits up so frequently and I couldn't have her spit up on us while we were outside in the super cold. When she got settled in the wrap she fell asleep pretty quickly.

With Simon we were hesitant to give him medications when he was that little and so he was pretty sad and almost feverish before we called the doctor and got permission to give him Tylenol. Because of Simon's febrile seizure the doctor told us not to mess around and just dose Lillian with Tylenol if she seemed like she was getting even a little uncomfortable. As a result the evening was a better one for all involved. She cried a bit, but nursing and snuggling settled her down and she just slept really hard and woke up a happy baby!

We will go back for her 4 month visit in about 5 weeks.
