Sweet! Potatoes

Simon ate his first real food last night and he loved it. Sweet potatoes are great! He had absolutely no problems knowing what to do and got excited when we came to him with another spoonful. He wasn't great about swallowing everything he got since he wanted to still chew on his fingers while he was eating. We gave him the spoon at the end (a soft baby spoon) and he knew just what to do with it - eat it!

Family Photo

Somber Simon

A long, sad day with lots of new people. But still lots of laughs.

Folks have been saying he looks bigger in the pictures, so I have one of standing at my normal height looking down on him. He is pretty small still.

Good morning Grandpa Basque

Sweeney Thanksgiving!

The Sweeney's came into town for Colleen's birthday and we had the first Thanksgiving in the new house. Look at that Kitchen! The island was the perfect serving location and we had plenty of room (as you can see). What a wonderful new house we have! After the jump are more pictures.

The Amazing Self-Feeding Baby

For his 5 month birthday today, Simon showed off a new trick: he can feed himself from a bottle!
For his 6 month birthday, I hope he learns how to change his own diaper

See a video after the jump...

Laughing for Great Grandpa White

Simon has started laughing at just about everything we say. We are pretty funny, so I guess it makes a lot of sense. These laughs are specifically for Great-Grandpa White -- We hope you feel better soon!

Picture of the Day: 11/11/11

Happy birthday Colleen!!!

Bath Time!

For Aunty Colleen's birthday we all got spruced up - even gave Mr. Simon a bath! He still doesn't know if he likes it. But at least he doesn't hate it!

Picture of the Day: 11/6/11

We still have tons to do to setup the house, but we made it a point to break out some of the fun bigger toys that we didn't have room for in the studio. Simon wasn't quite sure what to make of it all! He got the hang of it pretty quick though!

More Clark Kent!

More Naked Bumbo Baby!

More Superbaby!

S-s-s-studio

We'll miss you, tiny studio!  And you too, broken microfridge! And you, uncomfortable murphy bed!  But hundreds of cockroaches, we'll miss you most of all!

We had a wonderful view of the rowdy neighbors' rooftop party area, the CTA Brown Line platform ("this is Paulina"), and the Eiffel tower.  The doorway on the right leads to the dresser/closet/trashcan/changing table area and the bathroom

Almost there... stay on target...

There are still a few things left to do (a last coat of paint in a couple rooms, finishing the phone/cable/internet wiring, install the mirror and shower door in the master bath, move all the tools out of the first and second floors and clean up) but we're finally close enough to being finished that last night Emily and I were able to start unpacking a few boxes and putting things away into the kitchen.   We'll take a better set of pictures once it's all really complete, but for now here are some more shots of how things are looking now.

Looking from the living room over the peninsula into the kitchen and the back door.  On the left is the little "microwave closet" in the breakfast area.  We weren't sure what we were going to use for shelving in there, but Larry found a super inexpensive cabinet to install and used some of the leftover granite for the top
