January Kiwi Crate
Kids both got Kiwi Crates from Gaga and Papa for Christmas and they got their second one last week. The box includes age appropriate crafts centered around a science topic and has a little story attached for some teaching. Lillian's topic was rainbows and Simon's was magic.
Lillian and I made a rainbow pillow, talking about all the colors and the orders, we made a stained glass window and a rainbow bag. It was lots of fun and she was very proud.
Simon and Alan created some magic tools and then started doing magic tricks! He was also very proud.

Lillian's (not so) Secret Super Power...
When I was putting Lillian to bed I told her that monsters were terrified of me. And if they ignored the sign that said no monsters allowed that we have outside and they actually came in to the house, then they would see me and scream and run away. Because I have a Super Power to scare away monsters.
Then she said (wisely) but you aren't in my room. So I told her I gave her the powers when she was born and if a monster saw her he would run away. That way she'd always be safe.
And then I told her dinosaurs were the size of her Digit so those were not scary either. With Simon I used science. With Lillian I say whatever gets me out of the room fastest.
For the past couple days Lillian tells every new person she sees about her super power. She's offered to scare monsters out of the neighbors house and protect quite a few random people. Do we count this as a mom win since she's not scared? Or a mom fail because of the white lie?

Simon Playing Solitaire!
Simon is staying up a full hour later than Lillian these days and with our no screen time on weekdays rule, Simon has been playing more and more card games. Last night Alan taught him to play Solitaire and he LOVES it. Won a game last night.

Visiting KD and Tia at the Gym
We went out to visit our friends KD and Tia and got to see their new Gym. Kids favorite part was trying out all the equipment!

First swim at Foss
Finally got both kids back into swimming lessons. First lesson (7:30 am on Saturday morning!) was great. Looking forward to them both learning to love the water even more! My pictures are all from Lillian's lesson because Simon was way across the pool and the pictures were blurry.

Simon's Graduation to a Twin Bed
Long overdue, we have finally gotten our 5.5 year old kindergartener out of his toddler bed and into a twin. We took some time last week to go to IKEA and got Simon a new dresser and a new BUNK BED! It's on the shorter side for a bunk, about 3.5 feet off the ground, but it fits in his room perfectly and he adores it. There is a dedicated lego playing space underneath instead of another bed. He also has a new dresser and more space in general with the new configuration.
Growing, growing, growing!
Growing, growing, growing!
Past time for a larger mattress!
Simon and Alan built the bed together.
It's built!
