Basement Floor (May 19 - June 1)

I just realized I hadn't posted any house pics since May, which means it's time for a ton of house construction posts to catch up.

First up, let's jump back to the end of May for the basement floor.  It had been just wet sand since they tore up the old concrete earlier in the year, but now that the foundation was finished and the sewer and water pipes were in place they could pour the new floor.

The old furnace and soon-to-be-destroyed back wall of the basement

On May 24 they removed the old back basement wall to open it up to the new area in the back of the house under the kitchen.  This is standing near the bottom of the stairs looking back towards the future basement back door.

On May 25, they cleared everything off of the floor, laid down drainage, and smoothed out the sand

On June 1, they poured the new floor for the top (older) part of the basement

Solid, level and crack-free

Some light is coming in from a hole on the south wall that will eventually become a proper window
