Trip to Costco

We went to costco this weekend and got diapers. Simon saw the boxes by the door and industrially went about moving them into the proper places so he could sit inside. First it was just a fun little space, then it was a perfect height for a snack and a tea party.

Loving the new suspenders. These ones are dinosaurs.

Counting to 10

Simon can count to 10. You might have to play it a couple times to hear all the numbers since he's facing away and not projecting, but they're all there.

He can also correctly identify all the letters in his name (first and last). He's been able to do so for quite a while (since mid/late Jan?) but we haven't managed to get that on video yet.

I am not sure if I ever have mentioned this, but he's very advanced for his age.

Amy Basque Visit from 2/15 - 2/18

Amy came to visit this weekend and like always we had a great time but were terrible about taking pictures. These were all from the last day... The first couple at lunch while she walked Sad Sick Simon around the restaurant to keep him occupied before food. The last couple rolling balls on the floor between Alan and Amy with Simon in the middle. He had a very short temper and it was one of the very few times he was not okay being out. To such a point that Amy just took him home while Alan and I finished eating our lunches - thanks again!

Sad Sick Simon

Look! Salt and Pepper!

Pictures of the Day: 2/21/13

Boy does he need a hair cut! We are ordering the proper tools and then I'm trying again!

Valentines Day Card

Simon opened his very first Valentines Day card this year (from Grandpa Bart and Grandma Kiki) and after ripping the envelope into very tiny pieces he was ready to look at the card itself. It had a monkey magnet which was amazing. The monkey got to hang on the cabinet handles and got lots of hugs and kisses.

I taught my son one hundred words

We have officially stopped tracking Simon's words. We tracked his first 100 words and I am quite happy with that. Around the end of January he started learning many new words a day and by now he can repeat and say words that he just heard us saying and we weren't trying to teach him. It's amazing how saying the first 100 words was a slow road and now the learning is exponential.

Some of the fun new ones are 'Where are you?' said in a sing song voice whenever he's looking for someone or something, Oatmeal (said as two distinct syllables) and Daddy-o (said with a serious pause at the hyphen) are some of my favorites.

In general he is a fantastic little communicator. When he is hungry he goes to the kitchen signing 'hungry' and then says eat or cook (or more often snack!). Then you give him a list of options and he'll tell you what he's in the mood for - though sometimes he just cuts to the chase and tells you banana or egg or yogurt before you can even ask.

Now it is on to the next 100 words... we'll be there in a couple weeks I think.

Chillin' at Gymboree

We had to take a little time out from all the playing at Gymboree. Too many things to do!

Nothing better than secret ham

This weekend we went to Dinkels and Simon got a Ham and Cheese croissant. (We are not quite ready to give him a real doughnut.) He thought the croissant was ok until he found the ham hidden inside it... then it was an amazing breakfast!

Now the secret ham is in his mouth.
More secret ham?
He smiles when he sees you have a camera out to take his picture.
Then he wants to look at the picture you just took of him

Chicago and Reading videos

This morning I taught Simon to say 'Chicago (Caa-go) when you ask him where he lives! It's so cute and these are some brand new bowls that he is playing with. He is getting better with colors, not everything is blue these days. SOO smart!
This is from last week! Reading Go Dog Go to himself :)

Eating Fruit

Simon eating fruit this morning and unfortunately throwing some on the floor. It was already a long morning of not much sleep. Tired family.

Snow fun!

Days like today remind me how lucky we are to have Jenn as a Nanny. Alan and I are working from home, sitting on the bench up in our bedroom, and when I looked down I saw Jenn and Simon playing in the snow. They played with snowballs, chased each other, fell into snow piles and generally looked like they were having a great time. (I mean, I was working so I guess that's what they were doing. :)

These pictures were taken looking out our bedroom window down into the back yard. Love the reading/working bench!

Train Play

Simon still loves his train set. This weekend Alan and Simon were playing and Simon was a champ about connecting the trains all by himself. I am sure someone has said this before: He's very advanced for his age. :)

Pictures after jump.

Inspector visit

The inspector came this morning. He was happily eating cheerios in a big fancy bowl and then suddenly on his belly to look on the underside of the cabinets and pull tiny specks of almost nothing to put in the trash.
