Grandma Kiki meets Lillian

Lillian is One Month Old!

Can you believe it's been a month? Lillian is so much bigger it amazes me. Our lives have changed pretty drastically in that month. She is a great sleeper during the day or when someone is holding her. Sadly she is not a great sleeper in her cradle on her own, but that will hopefully come with time. She still eats every 2-3 hours, though we've had a couple stretches of 4 hours - especially when someone was holding her. She has a tendency to overeat and then spits up what Alan and I would swear was more than her body weight in milk - she has only had breast milk. When Lillian is awake, she is very alert and looks around a ton. She is also super noisy - awake or asleep. She sounds like a little velociraptor, all squeaky and deep growls, but noise doesn't mean she's unhappy! Lillian has this purr like sound she sometimes makes and sometimes she just likes grunting. She makes some serious noise out the back end and of course she has a cry too.  She has pretty decent neck control and can hold her own head up (with some bobbing) when she's doing tummy time. She enjoys tummy time and can stay on her belly for 10 minutes no problem. She still has blue eyes and we haven't figured out if they will change yet.

We had a well visit at the doctor today and she was 9 pound 7 ounces, 21 inches. 50th percentile for height, weight and head size. She is bigger than Simon was at this point.

Pictures and video were taken on Nov 22 when she was one month exactly.

Raking Leaves

This weekend Alan and Simon raked the leaves in the front yard. Simon has a rake of his own, perfectly sized, and was a help getting all the leaves in the bags. Unfortunately it was freezing out so they had to rake in a couple installments to prevent little fingers from freezing off. They got it done just in time, it's supposed to snow this afternoon!

Bottle Service

On Thursday night Lillian had her first bottle.  It usually takes babies a few tries to figure out bottles, but she understood immediately how to do it and drank the whole thing.  She even grabbed the bottle with both hands as she was eating to keep me from taking it away.  This is good news because it means Emily can finally get a break from feeding her every 2 hours and get more sleep.

Gaga and Papa meet Lillian (Oct 31 - Nov 5)

Gaga and Papa came into town to meet Lillian at the end of October, when she was just over a week old.  In addition to getting to meet their new granddaughter and spend time with their favorite grandson, they were also a huge help to a very tired Mama and Daddy - cooking, cleaning, shopping, and playing with the kids.   During their visit they met Bat-Simon and went with him to a Halloween event, played with football men, and of course lots of backyard baseball with Simon.  It was a great visit and we're looking forward to seeing them again soon.

Many more pics (and a video of the baseball game) after the jump...

Ladies Night Out

Auntie Colleen, Lillian and I went out for lunch on Friday and then out for our first (of many) Ladies Night and had an interesting Chinese dinner. Lillian slept through both meals.

This week

Stuck at Dinkel's

I went with Lillian to pick up Dinkel's for lunch on Sunday. Beautiful warm weather on my walk there... on the way home there were tornado and flood warnings. I had to stop and buy an umbrella and got stuck in 2 different stores to wait out the worst of it. By afternoon it was beautiful again.

Sleepy Bathtime

Lillian has been getting her baths in the sink. She doesn't love or hate them, she just sleeps right through them.
