Addition Progress (March 31-April 15)

House Picture Catch-up Day continues with pictures of the new back of the house over the past few weeks.  The framing is done for the basement and the first floor, and the second floor is partially complete.  It's been sidetracked a bit because of the crappy weather here recently, but now that things are finally starting to clear up a bit we'll probably see this start going forward much faster.

Addition progress on March 31.  Basement is done for now, the subfloor is in place for the first floor and framing has started for the new kitchen.

In the top middle of the picture you can see the beginnings of the wide window that will be above the kitchen table on the south wall.  The other half of that window extends into our temp laundry room.  The big space at the bottom of the pic is the doorway into the new basement area.

More framing done by April 4

A view along the north wall of the house on April 5 where you can see how the new construction is starting to be integrated into the rest of the house.

Lots more framing done by April 14... it's starting to look like a real room now.  You can see the big picture window over where the sink will be, and the door that will lead out to the backyard. 

Considering all the work that's going on here, that's a pretty clean and organized job site.  Too bad the security fence isn't keeping out all the pregnant hoodlums.

View from the backyard looking along the north side of the house.  The pile of junk down in that trench is old siding that was torn out to allow access for tying in the new and old sections.

First floor framing is mostly done by April 15, and work is starting on the second floor.  At the top of the big kitchen window you can see part of the big steel support beam they somehow hoisted up onto the frame to support the second floor.
