Talking to himself is confusing for mama

Simons trains and toys have started saying things like 'I'm hungry','don't forget about me' and 'I fell down'. This is very confusing for me as it I really want to feed/reassure/check on him but he quickly moves on to the next thing!

BGB Update: 36 weeks

36 weeks last Friday! Simon was born at 37 weeks, so we are very ready for Baby Girl Basque to come any time. Twice a week we are going to the doctor to make sure everyone stays healthy and at this point if I start showing signs of preeclampsia than we will get to see our little girl early. I'm officially on Maternity Leave as of Friday, so I will be able to rest up and finish all the little things that aren't essential but would be nice to have done before she is born.

Little girl has settled down quite a bit in my belly since she is officially running out of room. She is head down (as she should be right now) and generally likes to stay on either the right side or the left side so she is pretty easy to feel from the outside. Unfortunately for my ribs that is also a good angle for her to stretch out her legs and try to break free. I've heard that it's really cool to feel her little feet moving, but, honestly, from the inside it doesn't feel as cool.

Biggest French Fry

On Friday we went to a family dinner at DMK. Simon took a huge bite of burger so we gave him a huge french fry. He was pretty amazed about the whole thing. Good times.

This French Fry is HUGE!
Look, Mama.
Daddy, this is a HUGE french fry...
Very, very big.
Yum.

Day out with Auntie Colleen and Joe at Johansen Farms

On Saturday Colleen and Joe took Simon to Johansen Farms. They have a huge pumpkin patch, a petting zoo and tons of fun kid activities.  Joe's two brothers, their ladies and Joe's niece, Abby (3), and nephew, Logan (2), rounded out the party. Simon had a total blast. He got to ride a train and a pony and go down a big bouncy slide and he even held a baby chick! Thank you to both Joe and Colleen for watching Simon for the day!

LOTS of pictures after the jump...

Breakfast Muffins!

Simon is a banana fiend so we made some banana cinnamon raisin muffins.

Most natural 'cheese' smile I've seen yet.
Combination blow to cool off and lick.
Ok! It's cool enough!

Waffle Sandwich, Please

Sunday morning we went to Wafel, which is a new to us place for breakfast all the way down by the loop.  It was AMAZING. I couldn't resist posting some pictures of the sandwiches at the end of this so you can get excited about it and give us a reason to go that far next time you're in town. They were so good I want to eat 10 more right now (I haven't had dinner yet).  Simon got a small banana waffle and shared our sandwiches with us. Because he got his waffle before we got ours he kindly offered me a bite; it too was delicious.

Do you want a bite?
YUM.
It was a little sticky, so he wiped his hands after every bite.
Scrambled eggs, cheddar and bacon.
Fried eggs, cheddar and ham

Funny Simon stories

Simon and I were reading a book that called the reader a Little Dinosaur. I asked Simon if he was a little dinosaur and he said, "No, I'm big. And I'm Simon."

Alan and Simon were playing with Simon's new T-ball set. It was Alan's turn to hit the ball and he carefully hit it toward Simon and it bopped Simon right in the face and bloodied his lip. Simon was crying and bleeding and he was saying something and Alan rushed over, assuming Simon was done playing for a bit, but then he realized what Simon was saying through his tears... "Hit it again, Daddy, it will make me happy."

Simon was asking for grapes for breakfast so I was counting them out to him. First I gave him two grapes and asked him how many he had and he said two. Then I put one more grape on his plate and asked him how many grapes he had and he said three, another grape on his plate and he said four. Then I said 'if I gave you one more grape how many would you have?' And he said three and I said 'really? three grapes?' Quick as a flash he ate one of his grapes and he said 'yes, three grapes on my plate'. I couldn't help but laugh; he did have three grapes on his plate.
