Grandpa and Grandma Sweeney Visit 10/4 - 10/7

Grandpa and Grandma Sweeney came to visit at the beginning of October and Simon immediately identified them as 'GaGa' when they arrived. They were down on the ground reading books within minutes, which is Simon's favorite way to snuggle. We did a lot of reading, a lot of running, some park play and some zoo play and of course a lot of learning. By the end of the weekend Simon was saying Kiki - with the K sound a cross between a hard k and an sh sound. The intention was clear and has repeated on future Skyping sessions. It's amazing how fast he learns! It was a pretty wonderful weekend.

Lots more picture and details after the jump.

Wednesday evening.
Simon, Grandpa and Grandma spent some time snuggling and reading books before bed. Then Alan stayed home to babysit while Dad, Kiki and I went out for Margaritas! Oh, and mexican food. Yum!

Family bonding.

Thursday.
Grandma Kiki, Simon and I braved the cold weather to visit Merryman Park for a quick swing in the afternoon.

Off to the park!
Bundled.

Peek-a-boo!

Too hungry to swing!?

I love my car! (And there are snacks in the trunk!)
I can eat here, no problem.
Kisses to Grandma!

Friday.
Friday was a relaxing day of walks and parks, reading and cooking. Grandpa even made chicken noodle soup! (Emily took a nap.) Simon got a super soft cow hand-puppet from Grandpa and Grandma that he loved to snuggle with and moo at.

Let me help with these shoe laces...

CHEESE!

Wheee!!

Moo!

I LOVE COWS!

Night Night.

Saturday
Saturday we visited Jenn after her surgery and dropped off some lasagna. Then we went over to the zoo to look at monkeys and birds and lions, oh my!

Jenn has a fountain in front of her house! So interesting.

Tired boy, after the zoo.

Sunday
Grandpa and Grandma had to leave on Sunday, but we did get a nice walk in -- and some shoulder riding -- while looking for a newspaper. Simon did some walking on his own to try to tucker him out for the afternoon nap.

Simon discovered he can run around the island.
And push trucks around it too!
