Potty Training - Day 2

Day 2 of potty training was also a huge success. We had one accident first thing in the morning. About 10 minutes after waking up he started to make I need to go to the potty signs but I didn't act quite fast enough so we had a bit of a mess. (I just didn't think it would happen so fast!) After that we had no more accidents and a couple great potties. We kept with the timer, at 30 minutes this time, but really it was asking him if he had to go and him saying yes that got results every time. We even went for a walk in big boy underwear all the way to Scooters this afternoon. When we got there, we immediately went to the potty for a check in and he went! Yay! He got a big boy (kids) ice cream cone but ate only a few bites of it. I think it was too intimidating. He had less ice cream than he does when he gets the toddler size. It made for some fun pictures though. 

House Potty - DAY 1

Day 1 of potty training went really well! For the first day our goal was for Simon to learn how to pee on command essentially - so he can pee when he sits on the potty. It is a pretty big thing to learn and we did it by 100% naked Simon day and watching him like a hawk for signs of needing to potty and also setting a 15 minute timer and sitting on the potty every time it went off. In the morning we had 2 big potties in the potty where Simon said he had to go potty and then did. Whenever he did pee in there we made a big deal of it, with lots of clapping and praise and high fives, which makes him really happy.  And as a fun reward later on in the morning we went outside and played in the pool for 2 timer cycles. 

In the afternoon we were very watchful, but no potty peeing until almost end of day. Then Alan and I were standing at separate sides of the house talking about things that needed to happen before dinner: Potty time (most importantly), upstairs to get a pair of big boy underwear, and outside to clean up the last couple toys. There was a slight miscommunication and Alan went upstairs and I went outside, each thinking the other one was watching Simon.  While Alan was upstairs, he heard Simon downstairs cheering.  In the minute Alan and I were gone, Simon had gone to the potty on his own and cheered for himself. What a big boy!

Thunder storm wake up

Simon woke up from his nap to huge claps of thunder but he was still so tired So we brought him to our bed hoping he would fall back asleep. Alan tried to help him fall asleep again by asking Simon what he wanted to dream about, and then having them both close their eyes and talking about it.  Based on Simon's suggestions, that ended up being a fast green boat on the lake going to Paulina.  No one ended up falling back to sleep, but we got some cute pictures. Lightning and thunder for rest of afternoon.

Beach and aquarium

Simon and Jenn went to the beach on Thursday and the aquarium on Wednesday. Great times were had by all.

Building Patio Table

The week before Simon's birthday we finally got the patio table delivered. Simon and Alan built it together. Simon also helped take all the wrapping off the chairs.

Hanging Up Hangers

The other afternoon we pulled some hangers from the basement and I rinsed them in the shower to get any dust off and left them in there to dry. The next morning I pulled them out of the shower before I took my shower, intending to hang them up after I finished getting myself and Simon ready.

Simon took one look at my pile of hangers and promptly started hanging them up for me.  Which is totally awesome, because honestly I was dreading the leaning over to pick them up (because of the dizzies that still get me when I lean over or move up and down). It was also completely adorable as he kept up a running monolog of what he was doing.  One of the hangers was different, so he put it over on the table.

Crib time

Simon has always really good about crib time. Sometimes we will give him a book in the morning and he will patiently read it while we get ready. He naps really poorly for Alan and I on the weekend, we think it is because he is so excited to have both dad and mom around.

The audio on this is really bad because I was trying to get him singing to himself. He is very quietly singing Twinkle Twinkle to himself in this clip, you have to turn up the volume pretty loud to hear it. Singing to himself before he falls asleep is a pretty common thing. It's usually one of three songs: ABCs, Twinkle Twinkle, or Baa Baa Black Sheep. If I can ever get a better recording I will.
