Simon's 2 Year Well Visit

A week or so before Simon's 2nd birthday I realized I'd not scheduled his well visit. When I called they were booked until the end of July. As a result, we just had his 2 year old well visit on July 30th.

He was 35 inches tall (55%) and 25 pounds 7 ounces (15%) which simply supports our observations that he is a tall, skinny kid. He was great meeting the doctor, she was impressed by how much he talked and in general what a great little man he was. He did appear to have had an ear infection in his left ear in the past month or two, which tells us that he just doesn't show a lot of signs when he is in pain or not comfortable. We'll have to keep special eye on him going forward and she asked that we come back in 6 weeks just so she could take another peek at the ear and make sure it's completely healed.

We also talked about allergies. Simon has shown no allergies so far, but we have not exposed him to any form of nuts or shellfish. There is a blood test we can do to gauge his likelihood of allergy and we are going to do that before we expose him. So a blood draw is in his near future.

Speaking of, he had one shot at the visit (final Hep A vaccine). We told him he would get a shot and that it would pinch and hurt for a second. Like a rock star he laid down and Alan held his arms and I touched his head and the nurse did it quickly. He said ouch and pinch and was certainly happy when it was over and he got to sit up, but no tears and no screaming. We talked about band aids (which he calls headbands for some reason) and about shots a couple times that day and the next.

So, the meat of it is that we have a healthy happy little boy! Oh, and he had grown almost 2 inches since his birthday. Crazy growing time!

It's a deal!

I normally have mornings with Simon but last night I had the evening shift. We played and talked and I was so impressed at what a little man he was!

We were playing with pipe cleaners and I said, why don't we only take one out at a time? He looked at me and said 'it's a deal!' I laughed and he smiled and said 'Daddy says that!'

Then at dinner he burst out into song. He sang the whole BINGO song, including spelling the name! I sang with him when he looked at me expectantly and we traded off spelling (I said b, he said ingo; then I said bi, he said ngo; etc).

This morning we made muffins (Simon cracked the eggs and stirred), then he ate an apple while I did dishes and the muffins cooked. He even offered me a bite a couple times. Such a sweetie.

Happy Birthday from Simon's Birthday Weekend

Just got this video from Colleen from the very end of Simon's birthday weekend. He loved being sung that song so much!

Leominster Visit

Alan's Uncles, Aunts and Cousins live in Leominster so on Sunday (the 21st) we took a trip out to see everyone. As always, Trisha had a ton of food ready for hungry pregnant ladies and there was even some left over for other folks. (I think I ate a whole tray of lemon bars.) We had a great time catching up and Simon had a great time playing with his cousins Jake and Abby. They are 4 and 9 and loved showing him around, teaching him how to play with their toys (Simon LOVED the cars and trains) and Abby even showed him how to pet the cat.

After catching up we all spent some time in the swimming pool. They have a ton of floaty devices and Simon swam for almost two hours! We had figured that he would have trouble napping anyway, so we didn't even bring the crib for him to try. We had a jam packed day of fun so I think it was a good call, but on the car ride home (about an long hour) he totally passed out. That happens so rarely that you know he is a seriously sleepy kid when it does.

Simon Flying! (with some help from Daddy)

Passed out on the car ride home.

Lots of pictures and more videos after the jump...

Baby sister

Today Simon asked for his baby sister to come out so he could sing her lullabies and hold her.
