Lillian's Bad Dream

Lillian had her first bad dream where she woke up crying and yelling no no no. (Around midnight Friday night) Alan swooped in and calmed her down and she was quick to settle and fall back asleep. About 30 minutes later she pounded down the hall, yelling 'ahhhh' the whole way, with Baby clutched in one arm and Digit in the other.  She said she dreamed of falling rocks.

Simon's First Day of Kindergarten

How crazy is it that Simon is 5 years old and starting Kindergarten already! He was so excited to start that he ran all the way from home to school. Once we got into the playground we had about 15 minutes of play time before lineup, then some waiting in line for the kids to all file in. The waiting broke him - he got really nervous and by the time it was his line's turn he was clinging to me. I ended up having to pry him off me and hand him to the principal. But I was later told by one of the assistants that as soon as he got into the room he settled right down and ended up having a great day.

Simon will be in room 110 with Ms. Weisensel this year. There are 57 Kindergarteners at Hamilton and two classrooms. The rooms do some activities together and some separately. As a whole, Hamilton has about 450 students Pre-K through 8th grade.

Simon is in the YMCA after school program daily and will be joining 2 after school activities - Chess and Robotics. The YMCA program does sports, crafts and story times.

Emily and Simon visiting Gabe and Elisa at Martha's Vineyard

When we were in Boston, Simon and I took a day to travel down to Martha's Vineyard to see Gabe and Elisa and their now huge kids. Lorenzo is 11 (!) and Julian is 6. Simon and I woke at 6 and were on the road in short order. We took the first ferry across to the Vineyard and got picked up by Julian, Gabe and Elisa. Julian is such a joyful, outgoing kid that Simon immediately was hanging out with him like they'd known each other for ages.

First things first, the little boys hunted the yard for bugs while we adults talked. The boys got into the pool and swam a bit, we had an amazing lunch, walked through town and went to the beach. Simon saw moon jelly fish and spent quite a lot of time saving the ones that were washing up on shore. We swam in the salty water (which I made him taste and he was astonished by) and then Gabe went to get the car so we didn't have to walk home. We swam and cleaned up and then Simon and I caught the last ferry back to the mainland.  We had an uneventful ride home and were both tired but happy the next day.

CCC: Pictures of Lillian and Simon

This was Simon's last week at CCC. It was great for Lillian to have him there, but it'll be much better for him to be in Kindergarten with kids his own age. He needs more challenge to his days!

----
Hi Alan and Emily,

We have has such a great two weeks at CCC. We've been so busy enjoying our last few days of water play before the Fall. We have continued to work on our fine motor skills with different activities like playdough and string beads. We are getting so much better with our yoga poses and sometimes do yoga more than once a week! Cooking class has been great as we made sun butter and jelly sandwiches this week and fruit kabobs last week. We also made a turtle for an art project this week using paper plates, glue and green construction paper. We love learning and playing at CCC!

Enjoy!
