New Train Set

Jenn got Simon a starter train track set and Simon spent the whole day on Tuesday playing with it. These pictures are from early yesterday morning before I headed out to work. I was amazed at how long my little guy looks! These are new, super adorable PJs I got for him since he has almost no light weight ones for summer. They are 24 months and already a little short.

Farmers market

A couple weeks ago Joe, Colleen, Joe's brother and Joe's brother's girlfriend, Colleen, Simon and I went to the park early in the morning and then to the Farmer's Market near Colleen's house. We had a great time and I bought 5 pounds of frozen blueberries. Pictures at the end are of Simon eating them.

New bibs from Auntie Amy!

In the winter Auntie Amy made Simon a quilted bib. We use it all the time and it is one of the few bibs we have that still fit Simon. I mentioned to her a few weeks ago how much we loved it and she offered to make more! She got some really cool fabric - robots and trains - and made him 6 new bibs!

Best of all, Simon got to open the package they came in, which is one of his favorite things still. It is actually afternoon in these pictures, the half dressed state is due to him just not wanting to put on pants again after a trip to the potty. If we're not headed out it's easier just to let him run around in undies if he doesn't feel like putting his shorts back on.

Tricycle

We finally gave Simon his Birthday present from us this weekend... A Tricycle. He really enjoys the idea of it and of course loves pushing it. He hasn't figured out how to pedel yet, but we haven't given him a very good time to practice yet as we have been primarily pushing him. This weekend Alan was talking about bringing him over to the school parking lot for a while to let him figure it out.

Biggest change between this and his tiny car... the tricycle doesn't have a strap so he can get in/out at any time.

Colleen swung by the other night before bedtime and got to spend some quality time with Simon in his Train Underwear, which he is very proud of.

While these pictures are from a couple days ago, Colleen was super awesome last night too and really helped out a distressed, pregnant lady. Thank you again!

Songs, Stories, and Spaghetti

A week or two ago, Simon asked for a New Song as I was putting him to bed.  Out of ideas, I sang him "On Top of Spaghetti".  He apparently picked it up pretty quickly, because the other day while he was eating spaghetti he sang most of the song for us (as Emily mentioned in the last post).

He then started telling us the story of the Three Pigs Bears, with a few false starts.

Busy, Fun Day!

Today we had a busy, fun day. In the morning we had some skype time and then hopped in the big car and went to the Southport Summer Festival. They had a bunch of booths: One randomly by Grayhound where we got pictures taken; a free bouncy castle, which Simon wasn't sure of; and one booth had a bubble machine. We got rice and beans at one of the kiosks and listened to a live band of teenagers who are taking classes at the School Of Rock down the street. They were pretty surprisingly good and Simon loved watching them. 

Then home for a 3.5 hour nap for Simon and Mama. During lunch/snack when we woke up we asked Simon what he wanted to do and it was ride the train. We sang a quick song (amazing video of that, but Alan will add it later) and said a story while we were eating, then it was time to head out!

We packed a bag and went to the brown line and rode it to the end of the line. Simon just stared out the window the whole time pointing at trees and cars and flags that we passed. On the way home we got off to grab a quick dinner out. Unfortunately dinner took longer than we planned but at least it didn't rain on us even though the sky (and Simon) kept promising rain. Luckily we have the sweetest kid in the world so he just played peek-a-boo with the guy behind us on the rest of the train ride home. While walking home Alan told him that he looked tired. Simon said that he didn't look tired. So Alan asked him how he did look. Simon said, "Look like... Joanna. Yeah, that works." We both laughed a long time. He passed out about 20 seconds after I left his room tonight, didn't even ask for an encore when I said it was time to stop singing.

Oh, and the whole day we were diaper free. No accidents all week.
