We got home last night and Simon slept 12 hours straight and is doing great. He is rolling back to front and back again without acting like he is in pain. Once he is on his belly he can move around quite a bit. He can't stay on his belly too long still, but it is hard to convince him of that. We are giving him Tylenol still, but about half the doses he was getting in the hospital (and none of the heavier stuff). He is SO HAPPY to be home!

Home soon
Simon had a great night last night with Alan. He only woke up a couple times for pain meds and a snack, then right back to sleep. Hopefully that trend continues with some good naps today. During the daily rounds the doctor said he should be good to go home this afternoon so long as we are careful and keep him flat for 48 hours. We agreed, but Simon was strangely silent on the matter.
Simon is not a fan of laying on his back this long and has learned to roll from his back to his tummy in response to the enforced back time. Unfortunately we have to flip him back, but once he is all healed up he'll be rolling up a storm!
In the pictures is the mobile provided by the hospital. He is loving it - especially kicking the buttons with his feet which make it play different songs. He still has the iv in his leg (thus the brace to prevent him kicking it off), but there is nothing going through it anymore. Which gets another big yay from me!

Picture of the day: 1/4/12
Enjoying a bottle after a nice nap. We're in a new room now with only one other roommate, and the nurse lent us a fun mobile to keep Simon from being too bored.

Simon in recovery room
The young man is doing alright. He gave us a little half laugh and has smiled a couple times. The doctors have him on some pretty strong stuff to control the pain that also makes him super sleepy. He should be out of the 'check on him every hour' room mid day tomorrow. Things are going great!
