Pre-K November/December 2014 pictures

Random pictures from Simon's pre-k class from the fall. The teacher takes pictures every day and writes a summary of the day every day for parents.

About half the classroom. Choice time has them in small groups doing what they want.

Painting a picture of a tree. They did a session on trees this fall.

Simon helping the class count how many 'friends' (aka students) are in the classroom that day.

Playing dressup.

Building a tower.

Making a googly eyed spider which we hung on our front window for halloween.

Using blocks to spell his name. Help identify order of letters and upper/lower case.

He practices tracing his name every day.

Making tree picture. Sawer (5yo), Liam (4yo), Simon (3 years old)

Lillian cooking

I don't remember when I started having Simon help me cook, but Lillian officially started at almost 14 months. She required the big bowl and spoon, not the little bowl and wooden spoon that I pulled out for her. She had no problem standing on the stool while I got dinner prepped and in the oven.

Toe is Looking Good.

We went in for Simon's surgery checkup and he is officially cleared to start running again and acting like a normal 3 year old. Everything looks great with his toe - now we just have to work on that stuffy nose. Here he is playing in the lobby of the Children's Hospital where his toe doctor has his office. I am not posting a picture of the toe because the nail looks pretty rough. It was removed and stitched back on so is supposed to be like a bandaid while the other nail grows underneath it. Not the prettiest sight, but that is as it is supposed to be so all is well.

All the oatmeal.

What can I say, she really loves oatmeal.

Sunday funday.

Vickie and Joseph had a little girl named Maddie! She is lovely and had her One Moon celebration on Sunday. Somehow I didn't take a single picture while I was there, but I guess supports the fact that I just really enjoyed the party!! Colleen and Joe came to watch sick Simon and healthy (for now) Lillian. Joe was sick as well so the two boys snuggled up and watched a Berenstain Bears Christmas while Colleen and Lillian played.

Lillian saying Hi.

Lillian has quite a few words, but by far her favorite is hi. She says it so often and to everyone. When you say goodbye to her she looks at the door and blows kisses. Happily she has no separation issues when we leave. If I set her down and stay in the room she will fuss, but if I say goodbye and start leaving she just goes to the gate, blows kisses and waves.

Here she is the past couple mornings. In the first she says hi and also does her monkey noise and says 'eow' for meow, which I find so very cute. In the second, when she is down and signs down Alan reminded me that she is actually asking *me* to get down. She will sign down when she wants you to sit on the ground so she can sit in your lap.

Simon's Winter Show 2014

Simon had his winter show this week. He was absolutely adorable. Every student in the school participated (pre-k through 8th grade). There were dances and songs and it was generally a good elementary school production. Lisa was in town so Jenn, Lisa, Alan and I all got to see the show together (9:30 show). There was a professional videographer so we will probably be buying a cd of the show and I'll try to publish the Pre-K Class Song.

After school we took Simon out to Frasca as a special treat. He loves their pizza, they give a little cup of grapes and a scoop of ice cream as part of the kids meal. Amazingly, Simon volunteered to give Lillian a bite of his ice cream when it came. He scooped up the perfect sized bite and he fed it to her on the spoon. She hadn't had ice cream before and it is really cold so she touched her mouth to it and wasn't sure at first, he was so patient with her and just held the spoon there for a few seconds while she decided if she wanted to eat it. Of course she did want to eat it. It made me so happy and proud to see how kid he was to her and she just loves him so much she probably would have eaten anything he offered.

Walking out on stage he saw us! He is waving in the center of the frame.
"Mittens and gloves, gloves and mittens
Soft and warm, just like Kittens MEOW."
Grand finale - whole school sang a song together.
Simon is sitting on the stage, a tiny little face in the crowd.
He got flowers!
They were taller than he was!
Jenn thought to get a picture of us together.
After school we took Simon out to dinner at Frasca.
Pizza is his favorite, and they give him a scoop of ice cream as part of the kids meal.
