Breakfast Muffins!

Simon is a banana fiend so we made some banana cinnamon raisin muffins.

Most natural 'cheese' smile I've seen yet.
Combination blow to cool off and lick.
Ok! It's cool enough!

Waffle Sandwich, Please

Sunday morning we went to Wafel, which is a new to us place for breakfast all the way down by the loop.  It was AMAZING. I couldn't resist posting some pictures of the sandwiches at the end of this so you can get excited about it and give us a reason to go that far next time you're in town. They were so good I want to eat 10 more right now (I haven't had dinner yet).  Simon got a small banana waffle and shared our sandwiches with us. Because he got his waffle before we got ours he kindly offered me a bite; it too was delicious.

Do you want a bite?
YUM.
It was a little sticky, so he wiped his hands after every bite.

Funny Simon stories

Simon and I were reading a book that called the reader a Little Dinosaur. I asked Simon if he was a little dinosaur and he said, "No, I'm big. And I'm Simon."

Alan and Simon were playing with Simon's new T-ball set. It was Alan's turn to hit the ball and he carefully hit it toward Simon and it bopped Simon right in the face and bloodied his lip. Simon was crying and bleeding and he was saying something and Alan rushed over, assuming Simon was done playing for a bit, but then he realized what Simon was saying through his tears... "Hit it again, Daddy, it will make me happy."

Simon was asking for grapes for breakfast so I was counting them out to him. First I gave him two grapes and asked him how many he had and he said two. Then I put one more grape on his plate and asked him how many grapes he had and he said three, another grape on his plate and he said four. Then I said 'if I gave you one more grape how many would you have?' And he said three and I said 'really? three grapes?' Quick as a flash he ate one of his grapes and he said 'yes, three grapes on my plate'. I couldn't help but laugh; he did have three grapes on his plate.

Singing Twisted Sister

"We're not gonna take it. NO! We ain't gonna take it! We're not gonna take it ... anymore!!!"

Watch for the air guitar - looks sort of like tickling his chest.

Super pooper: potty training update

We potty trained Simon 3 months ago and he has been doing really well. We have the occasional accident because something else is much too interesting but since that first weekend he has been in underwear while awake. He still uses diapers for nap and bed time and I plan on continuing to do that until he's out of the crib and can actually get up and go to the bathroom on his own when he needs to.

One thing that most kids have a huge issue with that he never did is pooping in the potty. Simon is a SUPER POOPER! and when he needs to poop he just goes in the potty with no issues. It wasn't ever a thing at all, we just asked if he had to poop one day early on and he did. So he now does. There are still stinky surprises in the diaper after nap and in the morning sometimes, but if he's awake and in undies then it's the potty every time.

Have I mentioned that he's very advanced for his age?

Simon's First Play: Teddy Bear's Picnic

The Emerald City Theatre is a children's theater down the street that just opened which focuses on kids aged 0-4. We donated while they were under construction so got to go to a preview showing of their first show called Teddy Bear's Picnic. The show is interactive and obviously very kid oriented and Simon was totally into it. We will definitely go again later in Oct or early Nov since he had such a blast.

Lots of pictures below.

In the lobby, they started the show by having a bird fly in and lead us to the room.
The main theater room has floor seating for 45ish and everyone got a blanket and a picnic basket.
That's Mama Bear and she was doing a little dance and everyone was supposed to join in!

Tuesday at Karmen's

Yesterday was Simon's day with Karmen and Tyler. Since Monday was Karmen's birthday we wrapped up some of the (non slobberful) cookies. When Karmen arrived Simon ran over and got the plate of cookies, handed them to her and said "Happy Birthday, Karmen!" Before she could get out the words thank you Simon had continued with, "Will you share with me?" Ha! She said she'd give him a cookie in the car so it was the easiest goodbye ever. Here are some pictures...

Where are you?
At the park with Tyler.

It was a rough nap time, with some tears and wanting mama. But another cookie made it all better.
