2013: A Spacious Odyssey

We now live in a world where I own a minivan.  On Friday night Emily and I became the proud owners of a 2013 Honda Odyssey.  We'd been talking about getting a new car for a while and had been intentionally avoiding looking into minivans.  But the more research we did and people we talked to, the more it became apparent that a minivan was really the best choice for us.  Last weekend we test drove the Odyssey and were really surprised by how much we liked it.  It didn't look or drive or feel like the clunky old minivans from when we were kids.  After checking out a few other similar cars from other manufacturers, we decided we liked the Odyssey the best by far.  We requested quotes from all the dealers in the area, and on Friday when we received a great quote from the place we'd been working with in the city we decided to go for it.

Boston Children's Museum

When Simon was in Boston he got to go to the Children's Museum with the aunties and Gaga. Here are a couple videos of him playing with a sand box and the train table they had.

Daddy Moving the Lawn

This Sunday morning Alan was mowing the lawn while Simon and I cooked pumpkin raisin bread. Simon was fascinated by what Alan was doing outside, so we went out on the back steps to watch after we'd put the bread in the oven. Every time Alan paused Simon reminded him that he needed to be "moving" the lawn. When the lawn was mown (but not edged since it was 6:45am), Daddy and Simon went inside to make omelets and I stretched my legs and back and walked down to the new Dr Who-themed coffee shop on Lincoln to get Alan a coffee.  It's called Bad Wolf and it is very much a standing expresso bar, not the relaxing coffee shop I hoped it would be - but apparently the coffee was very good. And the omelets were great!

Bday present from Great-Aunt Kathy

Simon got a package in the mail the other day - it was a birthday present from my Aunt Kathy. I recorded most of his opening. I had to help a couple times so was required to stop. He LOVED the present and I didn't know that he knew what a whistle was! He played with his new train (Salty) all day yesterday and this morning when we came downstairs to eat breakfast he decided he wanted to play instead of eat (which I totally let him do while I straightened up). Thank you Aunt Kathy!
