Thunder storms

I came home on Wednesday to Alan and Simon sitting on the back steps watching lightening and listening to thunder. We let Simon stay up late to watch and listen and get adjusted since we were supposed to have a crazy storm. (75mph winds!) We talked about how thunder was very loud but it couldn't hurt you and told him to tell it to be quite if he got scared.

The thunder storm ended up going south of us, so it wasn't bad at all, but we all enjoyed the family time watching the lightening.

Mama is 18 weeks pregnant.

Simon's 2nd Birthday card from Shutterfly

This is Simon's birthday invitation this year. I am really happy with how it came out and Shutterfly will give me a discount on the next cards I order if I post this so here you go!

More Zoo Pictures from last Saturday

In my previous post about the zoo I mentioned that we met April and Scott there. Scott brought his camera and even more amazingly remembered to take lots of great pictures with it! Then he even sent them to me. (thank you, Scott!) Here are a few of my favorites...

Being cute.
We found a new area to explore...

Making Hummus

Simon and I made hummus this morning. On Monday I cooked dried chickpeas in the crock pot and this morning we made hummus. He LOVED making it, loved tasting it and generally was very proud of making it. He was very serious about it and it did turn out pretty good. It is a LOT of hummus though, so if anyone wants any we've got tons to spare.

Tiredest

Little man passed completely out within 10 minutes of lights off. I took about 10 pictures trying to figure out how close I could be with the flash and not be blurry, he never moved.

Pasta for dinner, Sauce for face

I made pasta sauce last night. Simon loved it and made a huge mess. Part of being a kid! He would stab a noodle with his fork, then pull the noodle off with his hand to put it in his mouth since the noodle never went into his mouth right when it was on the fork.

Play, Little Bit?

During dinner Simon and I were talking about what we were going to do after dinner and I told him he was going to bed. He looked at me and he said mama play? and I said no, go to bed. And then he looks at me and said mama, play, little bit? I cracked up and caved-in because it was just too cute to resist. Not the best precedent, but we negotiated 5 minutes of train play before bed time.
